OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITIES & DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES

• Owns, drives and coordinates the implementation and smooth operations of the Data & Analytics (D&A) data supply chain, use cases, etc
• Subject matter expert in key D&A technology platform components that support the end to end data supply chain (data ingestion, storage, processing, exploitation, visualisation, etc.)
• Applies a platform and framework mentality to absolutely everything he does
• Responsible for providing hands on engineering support.  This may take the form of direct system configuration and delivery, or working and coordinating through partners (SI / resource augmentation)
• Identify, define and deliver proofs of concepts / MVPs / pilots to test usage tools and capabilities, based on Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) architecture and associated technologies
• Responsible for defining and policing the Enterprise Data Platform technology guardrails within which Spokes must operate
• Drives and fosters DevOps/DataOps culture as the vehicle for success in D&A
• Drives a culture of non-negotiable continuous improvement within D&A
• Drive proactively the build of the CD/CI pipelines, using specialized knowledge and skills to prospect, qualify, deliver and optimize EDP
• Influences stakeholders in D&A and Spokes to always prioritise quality to unlock acceleration
• Check and validate that EDP is enabled and supported in most efficient and effective way, maintaining cloud platform according to the overall solution architecture, in line with business priority/requirement (functional and non-functional), standard and procedures
• Provides input and critical thinking to the design/change control process and support the cloud components across linked processes
• Able innovate and think out-of-the-box to vision new platform improvements on the EDP
• Is obsessed on creating KPIs that drive platform performance, resilience & cost effectiveness
• Is able to support & provide QA of relevant platform design intellectual property
• Is able to use technology to develop digital materials that are easy to keep everyone informed about innovation/evolution on EDP
• Act as SME contact point into the D&A CoE for BAT Group Technology on the solution area

CORE RELATIONSHIP

• D&A Engineering Lead: owns of the EDP platform and leads of the D&A Engineering team
• D&A Solution Engineers: collaborate with peers to form and deliver the value adding platform solution
• D&A Enterprise / System Architect: to ensure any defined platform solutions align with the Enterprise Architect strategy and standards
• D&A Account Managers: to ensure platform readiness for demand delivery, full understanding and prioritisation of analytics use cases
• Other IDT Delivery and IDT Platform teams: provide Quality Assurance and solution expertise on capabilities and platforms around D&A

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Have experience and fully understands DevOps applied on data and analytics platforms; Preferably have read and fully understands The DevOps Handbook
• Experienced and comfortable leading delivery of data platforms and products that require data sets with multi-billion record size, including global scale deployments (+250 end markets)
• Expert knowledge on modern data platform technology components.
• Is it expected that this knowledge will be a combination of broad awareness, mixed with deep expertise in specific components:
• • Ingestion technologies:  e..g WhereScape, Talend
  • Cloud Storage technologies: e.g. Snowflake, Blob, ADLS Gen2
  • Processing technologies: e.g. SAP BW on HANA, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark
  • Exploitation technologies: e.g. MicroStrategy, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI or similar high-end visualisation tool/platform
• Expert on making data available to people using modern data analytics platforms
• Knowledge of machine learning and RPA technologies, with real experience of implementations
• Experienced and comfortable on leading, influencing and operating in a complex geographical/ functional matrix organization
• Ability to quickly become into a key contributor within a high performing teams within and outside the IDT function
• Track record of demonstrating passion for learning, adapt and exploit new technologies to deliver commercial value
• Clarity and understanding of strategic thinking on key decisions
• Expert collaborator, strong critical thinker, problem solver, communicator and influencer
• Education: First degree

NICE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE

• SAFe agile background experience and certification
• Background on programming language applied to analytics (e.g. SQL, Scala/python, SnowSQL)
• Understanding of the challenges associated with platforms operating model in global organisations
• Have successfully lead (or delivered) before machine learning / RPA / AI use case making bottom line financial impact
